In the nonprofit space, every action we take is a choice to work toward our goals, no matter how lofty or “pie in the sky,” they might be.

This also applies to our partners.

Whom we partner with has tremendous importance for our work as nonprofits. As someone who’s been doing this for decades and deeply cares about the organizations I partner with, I can’t tell you how overjoyed I am to partner with Cartier.

You might be wondering, “But Sterrin, why Cartier? How do they align with your values?”

They speak my language.

You know how much I care about the power of humanness, and they agree wholeheartedly. Their mission is to live out their traditions of excellence and craftsmanship in everything they do. They also believe that innovation is one of the keys to success, which is music to my ears!

I agree with their conviction to modernize and serve humanity in new ways, but they pursue this innovation with strict adherence to their values.

You know how much I love that. Authenticity, curating curiosity, and connection are at the top of their totem pole, as they are mine. They want to facilitate real conversations that move the needle.

So, I’ve partnered with them as one of their 22 Luminary Thinkers to help launch their RedBoxMe initiative with an invite-only social media app. I humbly and excitedly take this mantle, and I fully intend on bringing this initiative back to sectors that need it.

Frankly, I have to pinch myself every time I talk about it.

Cartier is an organization that has been around a long time. They have handpicked global disruptors and thinkers for this work to elevate it. I am honored and amazed I was asked. The more I have worked with them, the more I’ve learned from them.

I’ve found that the success of Cartier has come from tried and true values that we too can live out.

Here’s what I’d recommend:

First, ask yourself what your values are.

Get specific and tangible. Think of visceral, raw stories that drive home the message. What is your brand promise to yourself, your organization, and your industry at large? What are the pillars that govern every action you take?

Don’t hold back!

Next, be vigilant and deliberate about finding organizations that align with yours.

I can’t tell you how valuable and powerful it is to shake hands with people who share your vigor about a particular topic. Even better, these connections are how you form shared partnerships, which only fuel to the fire of your growth and impact.

That’s how I partnered with Cartier, and we’re going to make waves.

Remember, values unite us and issues divide us.

Where there are shared values, there is an opportunity for action. If you want to stagnate and burn out, work in an environment that doesn’t align with your values! But if you want to experience new heights of success, find partners that have as much passion as you do.

Ask yourself: 

  1. Have you taken a look at what your brand values are and what they promise?
  2. Have you looked around at whom you share that with?
  3. Are you talking to the right people?
